The Cancer Support Center of Maine Public Education Programs
Cancer is not one disease but many diseases. The Center not only offers education on ways to help reduce cancer risk (such as:
suggestions on weight reduction
nutrition and food choices
and healthier life style choices),
but also helps the cancer patient better understand their particular type of cancer by offering educational materials to them.
Since over 90% of current tobacco users start using tobacco in grades 6 through 12, the Center offers information to students on how this behavior is extremely risky and can have devastating consequences.
Schools may contact the Center for more information about this free program.
